The estate is now run by Bruno’s daughter Bruna, who continues from her father overseeing some of Piedmont’s finest vineyards, from Barbaresco’s Asili and Rabaja crus, to what is arguably Serralunga d’Alba’s very best, Falletto – terroir is very much on her side.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2019\u003c\/strong\u003e was a late harvest, with a good amount of rain in the early Summer which promoted moisture retention in the soil. The wines are tense and well balanced with excellent structure for ageing.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #008000;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWalter Speller, Italian critic for Jancisrobinson.com\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e, did not yet taste Giacosa's 2019s, but recently wrote of the 2019 Barolo vintage, calling it - \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #008000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e‘a vintage that excels in elegance’, ‘a classic in the making’.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e He likened it to 2013, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #008000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e‘an outstanding vintage from a rather troubled growing season’\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e.\u003c\/em\u003e He said that both have produced wines \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #008000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e‘to lay down’\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e, \u003c\/em\u003eobserving that \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #008000;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e‘tannins are certainly eye-catching in 2019 because they are plentiful’.  \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2018\u003c\/strong\u003e was also a late vintage with a cool summer followed by a warm September and October which allowed for a slow maturation, and the harvest was around 2 weeks later than usual. Due to the estate’s extremely high standards, there was vigorous selection in the vineyards, meaning there simply wasnt enough juice to make any single vineyard wines from Barbaresco or Barolo in 2018, so\u003cstrong\u003e the 2018 Barbaresco below is a blend of the single vineyards\u003c\/strong\u003e and is looking magnificent.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan style=\"color: #000000;\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2017\u003c\/strong\u003e was a very warm and dry year, saved by rain in September.
