Tawny port is aged in oak barrels, and is a blend of vintages, but these single harvest Tawny ports are usually referred to as Colheitas - a far cry from vintage port with very slow and gentle cask ageing creating ports of extreme aromatic complexity with delightfully mellow structures.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMatured in Taylor’s historic lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia, the 1976 Single Harvest Port offers remarkable aromatic intensity after 50 years of ageing, with rich dried fruit, caramel, and spice. \u003cstrong\u003eI tasted the wine earlier this week and it is as usual, sensational! A deep rich chestnut colour, the nose is floral and elegant with intenser notes of honey, treacle and red berry jam, with cedary, cigar-box notes and wild herbs. Concentrated and rich on the palate, full of dried figs, apricots and marmaladey notes, finishing clean and fresh and oh, so moreish! \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis release embodies Taylor’s commitment to excellence, tradition and craftsmanship.
