In 1976, Bollinger Vintage was re-named ‘Grande Année’. Then in 1997, it became ‘La Grande Année’ - 'The Great Year' - a name simple enough to illustrate its exceptional status, because only truly extraordinary years become are released as vintage wines at Bollinger. This vintage is entirely fermented in oak barrel and is produced from thirteen crus: 95% Grand Cru and 5% Premier Cru.

The Limited Edition James Bond 007 2002 release celebrates the long-standing connection between Champagne Bollinger and the James Bond film series. The design is based on the silencer of a Walther PPK, the preferred pistol of James Bond, with a nod to his use of gadgets - the box opens only after entering the code "007".

Hidden inside each silencer is a 75cl bottle of Bollinger La Grande Année 2002 - the Cuvée de Prestige of the house, an exclusive assemblage of Grand and Premier Cru vineyards. This was also wrapped in a special bond design. The fluted pressure reminds a little of the handles of the pistols used by 007. The limited edition of the 50th anniversary of Bond has become a coveted collector's item.
