Nestled in the foothills near Bolgheri, Ornellaia lies just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. During the summer months, the cool sea breeze caresses the vineyards and nearby olive groves, while during the winter the hills provide protection from the cold north winds. Ornellaia believes that a wine should be the most authentic expression of the terroir from which it originates and it is right here that, together with the maritime climate, the heterogeneous nature of the land and the estate – of marine, alluvial and volcanic origin – creates a distinct environment where red and white varieties can best express themselves.
 
"La Generosità" is the word chosen by Ornellaia to describe the character of the sensational 2021 vintage. A much anticipated release, especially after Bolgheri´s 5-star vintage rating. Marco Balsimelli, Estate Director at Ornellaia, notes the 2021 vintage is "a very expressive and complex wine, with all the hallmarks of one of the great vintages from Ornellaia."

Made from 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot, the unique combination of fruit intensity, bright acidity and a fleshy tannic structure, makes it a truly memorable wine and one with great ageing potential. As usual, Ornellaia is packed in wood, with one bottle bearing the artist label, as per the photo.
