The Lequin family comes from a long lineage of Burgundian producers, who have been based in Santenay since 1679. The first vintage of Domaine Lequin-Colin arrived in 1976, a few years after the marriage of René Lequin to Josette Colin, a descendant of a long lineage of winemakers from Chassagne-Montrachet.

Today, their son François looks after 9 hectares of Domaine-owned vines stretching across Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Corton.
 
Devoted to authenticity and quality, the Lequin-Colin vineyards have been ploughed since 1997, organically farmed since 2009 and in 2010 they introduced biodynamic viticulture. Francois is an advocate of minimal intervention, allowing the individual vineyards to express themselves through the wine. Half of his vineyards contain vines that are over 50 years old; with the other half around 25 years old. For all Chardonnay and Pinot Noir re-plantings, François takes selection massale cuttings from this site and also from his oldest vines to make outstanding wines year on year.

The wines are perfumed, generous and wonderfully expressive, and can be enjoyed young with a lovely bright freshness. In the context of Burgundy prices today, these wines offer exceptional value, and should not be missed! I would happily drink any of these right now but a few years in the cellar will only see them improve even further.
