The 2012 Grande Annee Blanc has a nose to die for - marcona almond, apricot, hazelnut with a hint of honeysuckle, and whilst it is structured to cellar for years, it is already a very rewarding drink. This was the only Champagne featured in Wine Spectator's top 100 wines of the year in 2020, and it ranked at number 10.
 
2012 is a sensational vintage, which has drawn many comparisons with the great vintages of 2008, 2002 and 1996. Bollinger's house style always leans towards that of richness, so it is in these richer-styled vintages that the wines really excel.
 
La Grande Année is Bollinger’s Prestige Cuvée and is only produced in exceptional vintages, from about two thirds Pinot Noir from Grand and Premier Cru sites. The base wines are fermented and aged entirely in small oak barrels, giving the wines a distinctly rich and full flavoured style which is uniquely recognisable as Bollinger.
