2024 marks an important milestone for Domaine Chanson – they are now certified organic in the Cote de Beaune vineyards. They will be certified in their Cote Chalonnaise vineyards from the 2027 vintage.

It is worth noting Domain Chanson’s recent purchase of Château d’Etroyes in 2023, located within the Mercurey and Rully terroirs, Chanson have now acquired 45 hectares of vineyard in the Chalonnaise which says much about the changing face of Burgundy.  With an increasingly bright light being shone on this less heralded part of the region, the Côte Chalonnaise is becoming increasingly prized for its relative affordability compared to the vines, grapes and wines of the Côte d’Or.

The whites have great freshness, vivacity and tension. Unfortunately, the harvest has been in some cases up to 60% lower than usual. Regarding the reds, again there is a beautiful freshness and finesse to the wines. They are now more terroir driven than ever with wonderful purity.

Beaune as an appellation can be hugely underrated, it is a broad and diverse, and this is a fantastic opportunity to get behind a Domaine that has undergone major change across the business in recent years.

I have highlighted a handful of wines that particularly stood out for me:

2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Hauts Marconnets Blanc Premier Cru – a little Puligny-like” – Neal Martin.

2024 Beaune Les Bressandes Blanc Premier Cru – “Worth seeking out.” – Neal Martin.

2024 Beaune Le Clos des Mouches Blanc Premier Cru – Yes please. ” – Neal Martin.

2024 Corton-Vergennes Grand Cru – One of the top picks from the Chanson portfolio and tremendously successful in 2024.

2024 Mercurey Le Clos l'Évêque Premier Cru – Excellent scores for the price and a very good wine.

2024 Beaune Le Clos des Mouches Rouge Premier Cru – Jasper Morris’s pick of the Chanson wines.

2024 Beaune Clos des Fèves Premier Cru Monopole – A perennial winner and a personal favourite.

2024 Pernand-Vergelesses En Caradeux Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £200 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Pernand-Vergelesses En Caradeux 1er Cru has a little more extract than the Hauts-Marconnets, with light touches of praline and almond coming through. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, though just missing a bit of mineralité and depth towards the finish. Early-drinking.”

86-88 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“A pretty lemon and lime colour. The bouquet absolutely hits the style of the vineyard, fresh and chiselled. The white fruit stays lively on the palate, with fine persistence and just enough flesh on the bones. A fine and typical example. Drink from 2028-2031.”

2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Hauts Marconnets Blanc Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £174 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Hauts Marconnets Blanc 1er Cru is quite open on the nose, with scents of green apples and a sprig of fresh mint in the background. This is a little Puligny-like. The palate is fresh on the entry with pretty lemon thyme and orange pith notes. I appreciate the modest depth on the finish with a dab of spice that pops up on the aftertaste. Enjoy this over five to seven years.”

88-90 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“Mid lemon yellow, but note that the sample is unracked as yet and could do with freshening. There is adequate acidity here and very much a limestone note, so this should work well when it has been tidied up and prepared for bottling. Drink from 2028-2030.”

88-91 pts Jasper Morris Oct 2025

2024 Beaune Les Bressandes Blanc Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £225 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Beaune Les Bressandes Blanc 1er Cru has a capable nose, well-defined with hints of yellow and citrus fruit and a touch of brioche waiting in the wings. The palate is well balanced with a silver thread of acidity, bright and tensile, a more linear almost minimalist take of Bressandes that works to its advantage. Worth seeking out.”

90-92 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“Quite a pronounced green tint. There is a lively and lime infused energy to this. Medium bodied, racy and savoury, with fair persistence. Hillside wines working well this year at Chanson. Drink from 2028-2032.”

90-91 pts Jasper Morris Oct 2025

2024 Beaune Le Clos des Mouches Blanc Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £420 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Beaune Clos de Mouches Blanc 1er Cru has a little more personality and nuance than the preceding Chassagne Chenevottes, with touches of Anjou pear and candle wax, well-defined and focused. The palate is fresh and tensile, with lovely salinity infused into this Clos des Mouches and a bright, zesty finish that encourages you back for another sip. Yes please!”

90-92 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“Fullish colour and soft bouquet with oak that needs refreshing. No worry about that. Like the Savigny in the same condition, the fundamental wine is fresh enough, with an excellent mineral backbone alongside pure white fruit. Drink from 2028-2032.”

2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £395 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has a pleasant nose: orchard fruit, hints of wet wool and white linen. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity. More malic than many of its peers, it displays decent tension and brightness, though maybe just a bit too Puligny-like on the finish. A bit more matière would not go amiss.”

87-89 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“A full yellow with a green edge to the colour. This is quite a weighty example of Chenevottes, with a little candied citrus, extends well towards the back of the palate with a fairly long finish. Drink from 2028-2032. Tasted Oct 2025.”

90-92 pts Jasper Morris Oct 2025

2024 Corton-Vergennes Grand Cru [6x75cl] @ £575 IB (5 cases available)

A racy green and gold colour. Plenty of weight to the nose yet stepping lively. Last to be picked, and the ripest but that seems to have worked well. Good flesh, ripe citrus and plum fruit, acidity still; present but tamed, and a long juicy finish. Drink from 2029-2034.

2024 Mercurey Le Clos l'Évêque Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £185 IB (NEW – 10 cases available)

“The 2024 Mercurey Le Clos L'Evêque 1er Cru has another slightly smudged bouquet, rustic red fruit mixed with forest floor/earthy aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, undergirded by pliant tannins, well balanced, supple and fluid with a cohesive finish. This is a delightful open-knit Mercurey that will be difficult to resist once in bottle.”

“Mid crimson colour. Better balanced in bouquet, a little cherry with some red berries behind. 30% whole bunch vinification helps to lift the nose. More raspberry behind, with good weight and some length. Drink from 2028-2030.”

2024 Beaune Clos du Roi Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £220 IB (10 cases available)

“Cask sample. Transparent crimson. Sweetly perfumed. Lightweight with quite a bit of oak in evidence. May get there but needs time. (JR)”

“The 2024 Beaune Clos du Roi 1er Cru has a lovely nose with vivid red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, the whole bunch here much more enmeshed than the La Dominode. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-bone tannins. This is well balanced and conveys a sense of energy with appreciable elegance on the finish. Recommended.”

90-92 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

2024 Beaune Le Clos des Mouches Rouge Premier Cru [6x75cl] @ £325 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge 1er Cru has an appealing purity on the nose with lifted redcurrant, cranberry and undergrowth scents that gain vigour in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and light red berry fruit that just misses a little tension and complexity, though there is more presence and a tad more grip than some of Chanson's other reds this vintage. Enjoy over six to eight years.”

89-91 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“An even deeper crimson, with life. Much livelier fruit on the palate, this has much more of everything and seems to have been brought out without forcing. 30% whole bunch vinification seems to have been the right decision here. My pick from the range for sure. Drink from 2028-2034.”

2024 Beaune Clos des Fèves Premier Cru Monopole [6x75cl] @ £300 IB (10 cases available)

“The 2024 Beaune Clos des Fèves 1er Cru has an earthy nose, a little more fruit concentration than the Les Grèves, the whole bunch imparting a subtle pepperiness. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, a little edgier and more tensile than the Les Grèves. It just attenuates slightly towards the finish, not uncommon this vintage, so I suspect it will provide decent early drinking.”

88-90 pts Neal Martin, Vinous Jan 2026

“A medium to full crimson. Cherries are the first fruit out of the box, and the stems (35%) are not too evident on the nose, though they do deliver more energy on the palate. This is perhaps the most structured wine with some more tannins, though they are relatively refined. Drink from 2029-2034. Tasted Oct 2025.”
